Who am i?
Dr Joshua Wolrich MBBS BSc AICSM. That’s me. More letters after my name than actually in it. I’m a qualified doctor, but more recently have become a little obsessed with nutrition and exercise. I spent most of my teenage and early adult life being overweight, and flip-flopping from diet to diet like most people who are trying to lose weight end up doing. At one point I just had enough. Enough of the hypocrisy of telling patients that they needed to lose weight to get healthy, despite being overweight myself.
Why EVIDENCE-BASED FITNESS?
There is SO MUCH crap on the internet at the moment just waiting for someone to believe it. In this day and age, it seems to be the case that if enough people believe something to be true – no one questions it. A good example would be the endless adverts for body-part targeted fat loss exercises. If you’ve ever been on Instagram you’ll have seen them.
“5 great exercises to lose belly fat fast!”
It’s not only click-bait. It’s rubbish.
WHY SHOULD I LISTEN TO YOU?
Well you don’t have to. But I’m a regular Joe just like you. I’m not someone who has been fit all their life. I’m not a personal trainer who doesn’t know their knee from their elbow. I’ve persevered to lose weight healthily and consistently, and I believe it’s the only way that you can guarantee you won’t just put it straight back on again. So far it seems to have worked!
SO WHAT IS ON THIS WEBSITE?
If I wasn’t a doctor I may well have been a chef. Cooking has now become the way that I can reliably know what I’m putting into my body on a daily basis, and it underpins ANY weight-loss plan. Let me help you with some of the basics, and show you that healthy food doesn’t have to mean boring food.
I will also be sharing some of the fitness theories and mindsets that I’ve researched along the way over the last 6 months. They’ve changed the way I approach fitness, and I hope they may be of some help to you!
STOP WAFFLING – HOW MUCH WEIGHT HAVE YOU LOST?!
12kg / 26lbs in 6 months, not forgetting 7″ off my waist.
When are you stopping?
My original goal when I started was 85kg (187lbs), but having recently hit that target the new goal is 80kg (176lbs).
I’d like to see an ab for the first time in my life 😉
